I wrote this poem when I was sixteen years old, and recently found it again. I’m not especially proud of the poetry, but I am incredibly grateful for the fact that through the trials and tests of the past several years, God did let me follow Him, and He did not forsake me.
Let Me Follow You
Take me to a lonely corner
Of this world to do Your work.
Let me give my life away there,
Only let me follow You.
Take me to a lonely island
Where Your name is still unknown.
I will love and teach the gospel,
Only let me follow You.
Leave me here to do Your work, Lord,
If You want me to be here.
Send me here among the hurting—
Only let me follow You.
Put me through a fiery furnace;
Try my heart, give me a test.
By Your grace I’ll love You greater
As I learn to follow You.
Let me live and die to serve You,
Any place where You will call
Take away my friends and comforts,
Only let me follow You.
I will give up all things earthly,
For I trust Your steadfast love
Lord, if You will not forsake me,
Call me now to follow You.
