A Challenge To Truly Pray

“I’m so glad you shared… I’ll be praying for you.” It seems like the normal, or scripted thing to say when a friend or loved one comes to us with a burden or need. But will we pray? Will we truly pray? Will we spend time on our knees interceding for our friend, or will we merely ask God to help them and then forget?

When we tell someone we will pray for them, do the demons tremble or do they laugh? Does it make the angels rejoice or does it sadden them, because we have taken such a serious gift and responsibility so lightly? When we tell someone we will pray for them, we hold such a beautiful opportunity in our hands. An opportunity to bring the needs of a child of God to the mercy seat. An opportunity to spend time in our Heavenly Father’s presence. An opportunity to listen to His heartbeat. And an opportunity to truly rejoice when the prayer is answered.

“…pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
James 5:16
