When The Sunrise Is Behind You
Sometimes memories are like seeing the sunrise in your side mirror. You know it’s just a memory, because it’s behind you, but you want to keep looking at it as long as you possibly can because you know that as soon as you round the next corner, or top the next hill, it will vanish.
But as your focus is on your side mirror–your memories–you begin to lose your way forward. As you focus too much on past memories, the feelings (or maybe even wishing you could go back) take over and you begin to lose sight of what’s ahead.
So yes, I do love watching the sunrise in my side mirror, but as I was driving to school today, trying to snap this photo, I had to remind myself not to focus too much on past memories. I need to keep my eyes on the road ahead of me and trust in the one who has ordained my path to continue to guide me forward.
That’s very true. Thanks for that.
