Nursing School – Fall Semester 1

Guys! Can you believe that in thirteen weeks I’ll be graduating!? Yeah, I can’t either! This semester started out really hectic. Along with starting classes, I was studying for the Sociology CLEP test so that I wouldn’t have to take a three credit Sociology class this semester on top of my nursing class and clinical. (If you don’t know what a CLEP test is, you can find out here.)

As it turned out, I was cramming too much studying into not enough time, and well, let’s just say that if it weren’t for my family’s prayers and encouragement (Mum and Paul especially), I probably would have given up all together and just taken the class; I really didn’t think I could pass the CLEP test. I studied as much as my overworked, fried brain would allow, and last week I took the test and passed! I think my mum was almost as happy as I was. (Thanks for praying, Mum!) So that’s how my semester started…

So far this semester I’ve had two SIM days (clinical days on campus as opposed to at a hospital or nursing home), and we’ve studied some interesting things both days.

Peta-Gaye and I studied hemorrhagic strokes. We took turns holding the concept map and presenting our information to the rest of the class.

Mariah is talking about various things that can go wrong with eyes: retina detachment, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, hordeolum, etc. She’s quite the artist!

Anna is writing about the side effects of some medication…

And Shannon wrote out a flowchart on sedative and hypnotic drugs.

I realized the other day that I didn’t include any pictures of me actually giving my lecture at school, so I’m including it in this post. If you haven’t read My First Lecture, please do!
